[OICT Announcement] Campus Ban on China-Brand Devices and Scheduled Mandatory Disconnection Policy (Affected Personnel Will Be Notified Individually via Email)
Dear Colleagues,
The purpose of this notice is to announce:
Any China-brand device that has not completed inspection or applied for inventory management according to the regulations will face mandatory network disconnection by the campus network system in accordance with the law.
Per the information security reinforcement requirements of the Ministry of Education's "Higher Education Sprout Project," China-brand information and communication technology (ICT) and networking devices are strictly prohibited from connecting to the campus network.
The Office of Information and Communication Technology completed the campus network inspection and device brand identification on September 24, 2026.
This operation is processed via individual notifications. Colleagues who hold China-brand networking products and have received an "individual notification email" must complete the inspection and handling before November 30, 2026, in accordance with the instructions below. Devices that are not handled by the deadline (including those no longer in use) will be forcibly removed from the network registration.
【Please handle your devices within the deadline according to their actual conditions as described below】
■ Scenario 1: Uncertain about device purpose or brand
Please log in to the "Campus Portal - Maintenance Notification System" and note "Assistance required for identifying networking device brand." The IT office will arrange technical personnel to accompany you to the site for advanced identification.
■ Scenario 2: The device is deactivated
Please disconnect the network cable immediately (or disconnect from the network). Our office will assist in deleting the registration data and executing network disconnection uniformly after December 01, 2026.
■ Scenario 3: Not the owner of the device, or the administrator has changed
Please notify the current actual user or custodian to complete the change of registration. If the device remains unclaimed, our office will directly delete the device's registration data and execute network disconnection after December 01, 2026.
■ Scenario 4: Special equipment purchased within 5 years that cannot be replaced immediately
(e.g., campus surveillance systems, access control equipment, specialized occupational teaching equipment... etc., which require long-term replacement planning)
Colleagues who have received the individual notification email and hold such devices must proactively report and provide an explanation to the IT office before November 30, 2026. The IT office will compile and submit the cases to the "Asia University Information Security and Personal Data Protection Committee" for review. Once approved, the devices can be tracked under inventory management and temporarily allowed to continue using the network.
(Note: Conventional equipment such as wireless routers, network switches, and network printers will not be managed under exception. Please replace them directly with brands from other countries. Unreplaced items will still face mandatory network disconnection.)
【Please pay attention to the deadline: Devices not handled in time will be forcibly disconnected】
1. Direct Deletion and Disconnection (Starting December 01, 2026): If no reply is received at all (or if the device is confirmed to be no longer in use), the IP registration will be directly deleted, and the device will immediately lose network access.
2. Comprehensive Disconnection during Winter Break (Starting January 10, 2027): For any device belonging to a China brand that has not applied for inventory management according to regulations, the system will successively delete the network registration data and enforce comprehensive network disconnection starting from the beginning of the winter break this semester.
※ Supplementary note for special equipment: If your device is a "USB network card" or a "Docking Station", the data will not be deleted as long as you reply to this notification email. However, for long-term information security considerations, it is strongly recommended to replace it with a brand from another country next semester.
A final warm reminder: in order to comply with national information security policies, please do not purchase China-brand products for any network-connected devices in our school in the future. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in maintaining campus information security!
Sincerely,
Office of Information and Communication Technology
