What is Microsoft KMS activation？
Key Management Service(KMS) is a method developed by Microsoft for managing volume license keys for Windows operating systems and Office applications, and serves as an authentication mechanism to ensure users are using legitimate software. Activation must be completed within "30 days" after software installation, and each activation is valid for "180 days."
Currently, Windows operating systems and Office application software on campus must be activated using the KMS authentication method; no other activation methods are provided.
What is the scope of use for Microsoft KMS activation?
The Microsoft volume licensing software at our school is an upgrade version. You must first purchase a computer that includes an OEM operating system in order to upgrade to the campus version. If it does not come with an OEM operating system, the installation will fail verification.
The software that requires KMS activation under our school’s Microsoft volume licensing currently includes: Windows 11, Windows 10, Office 2024, Office 2024 for Mac, and Office 2021. Activation is available within the campus IP range, or after logging into the VPN service when off campus.
Microsoft KMS activation procedure steps
Taking the rights of off-campus users into consideration, users must first be authenticated through the VPN service to connect to our KMS server. We appologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
First, you need to download the corresponding credential file according to your requirements.

Next, please "right-click" on the activate file, then select "Run as Administrator."
Finally, please select "Yes" when the notice of User Account Control appers, then your system or software will be aactivated sucessfully.
Office 2024 KMS for Mac activation procedure steps
Please download the Office 2024 for Mac activation package below. After installing this package, wait a few minutes and it will be activated. (The activation completion status is shown in the image below). This package is only available for installation on the latest three versions of macOS.
